½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ cup milk


Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. Melt butter in the bottom of your 9-inch round cake pan.

3. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the melted butter.

4. Arrange the pineapple slices next.

5. Place cherries in the centers of the pineapple rings.

6. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.

7. Cream softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.

8. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.

9. Stir in vanilla extract.

10. Alternate adding dry and wet ingredients (milk) to the batter, beginning and ending with dry.

11. Pour the batter carefully over the pineapple and cherries.
