Description

These Peanut Butter Spider Cookies are a delightful, slightly spooky treat, perfect for Halloween or any time you want to bring a smile. They are simple to make, a fantastic project for kids to decorate, and embody joy and love in baking. These cookies offer a perfect balance of sweet and salty, are highly customizable, and taste amazing.

Ingredients

  • Unsalted Butter, softened: 1/2 cup (1 stick)
  • Granulated Sugar: 1/2 cup
  • Packed Light Brown Sugar: 1/2 cup
  • Creamy Peanut Butter: 1 cup
  • Large Egg: 1
  • Vanilla Extract: 1 teaspoon
  • All-Purpose Flour: 1 1/2 cups
  • Baking Soda: 1 teaspoon
  • Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chocolate Candies (e.g., Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups Mini): 24 (for 24 cookies)
  • Black Gel Icing or Melted Chocolate: For drawing legs
  • Candy Eyes: 48 (2 per spider)

Instructions

1. 1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. 2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

3. 3. Beat in the peanut butter, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.

4. 4. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

5. 5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.

6. 6. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls. Place them about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.

7. 7. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

8. 8. Immediately after removing the peanut butter cookies from the oven, gently press one chocolate candy into the center of each warm cookie. This creates the “spider body.”

9. 9. Let the Peanut Butter Spider Cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

10. 10. Once cooled, use black gel icing or melted chocolate to draw eight spider legs around the chocolate candy.

11. 11. Attach two candy eyes onto the chocolate candy using a tiny dab of icing. Enjoy your spooky Peanut Butter Spider Cookies!
