Ingredients
1 lb Ground beef
1 medium Onion, chopped
1 can (10.5 oz) Canned cream of mushroom soup
1 bag (32 oz) Frozen tater tots
2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
To taste Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F
- Brown ground beef with chopped onion in a skillet. Drain excess fat. Season with salt and pepper
- Spread beef mixture in a 9×13 inch dish. Pour cream of mushroom soup on top and spread evenly
- Arrange tater tots in a single layer over the soup
- Bake for 30 minutes until bubbly
- Sprinkle with 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese. Bake 5 more minutes. Let cool before serving
Notes
Drain beef well to avoid greasy texture. Use lean ground beef for best results.
Do not overbake; check tater tots at 25 minutes for golden brown.
Let casserole rest before slicing to allow layers to set.
Store leftovers in airtight container in fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat at 350°F for 10 minutes or microwave covered.
Freeze for up to 2 months; thaw overnight before reheating.
For gluten-free, use gluten-free cream of mushroom soup and tater tots.
Can substitute ground turkey, chicken, or lentils for ground beef.
Add vegetables like corn, green beans, or mushrooms if desired.
