It’s incredibly simple, visually appealing, packed with nourishing ingredients, and quick to make, turning an ordinary weeknight into a playful, spooky experience.

Ingredients

  • Spaghetti or Linguine: 1 lb
  • Ground Beef or Turkey: 1 lb
  • Canned Crushed Tomatoes: 28 oz can
  • Canned Tomato Paste: 6 oz can
  • Onion, finely chopped: 1 medium
  • Garlic, minced: 3 cloves
  • Dried Oregano: 1 tsp
  • Dried Basil: 1 tsp
  • Salt: 1/2 tsp (or to taste)
  • Black Pepper: 1/4 tsp (or to taste)
  • Olive Oil: 2 tbsp
  • Fresh Parsley, chopped (for garnish): 2 tbsp

Instructions

1. 1. Cook the spaghetti or linguine according to package directions until al dente. Drain thoroughly, then set aside.

2. 2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

3. 3. Stir in the minced garlic; cook for another minute until fragrant.

4. 4. Add the ground beef or turkey to the skillet. Break it up with a spoon, then cook until it is no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.

5. 5. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.

6. 6. Bring the sauce to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low, then let it simmer for at least 15 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.

7. 7. Meanwhile, arrange the cooked pasta on a serving platter to resemble a brain.

8. 8. Spoon the simmering meat sauce over the pasta “brain.”

9. 9. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley. Serve immediately.
