Ingredients
- Gelatin powder (unflavored) – 2 packets (0.25 oz each)
- Boiling water – 1 cup
- Cold water – 1/2 cup
- Sweetened condensed milk – 14 oz can
- Green or blue food coloring – Several drops
- Black icing gel pen – 1
- Gummy lifesavers or peach rings – As needed for “iris”
- Blueberries or mini chocolate chips – As needed for “pupil”
- Vodka (optional, for adult versions) – 1 cup, replacing cold water
Instructions
1. Prepare the White Layer: In a medium bowl, sprinkle gelatin powder over the cold water (or vodka for adult jello shots). Let it bloom for 5 minutes.
2. Dissolve Gelatin: Pour boiling water over the bloomed gelatin mixture. Stir until completely dissolved. Add the sweetened condensed milk and mix thoroughly.
3. Chill White Layer: Pour this white mixture into individual shot glasses or a baking dish. Refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours, or until firmly set.
4. Create the Eyeballs: Once the white layer is set, carefully remove it from the shot glasses if using a dish, or prepare to place directly into glasses. Cut out small circular shapes if using a dish.
5. Add Iris: Place a gummy lifesaver or peach ring on top of each white jello circle or directly onto the set jello in the shot glass. These form the iris of your eyeball jello shots.
6. Add Pupil: Place a blueberry or mini chocolate chip in the center of the gummy ring.
7. Draw Veins (Optional): Use the black icing gel pen to draw small “veins” radiating from the iris onto the white jello, enhancing the spooky effect of your Halloween Eyeball Jello Shots.
8. Serve: Chill again until ready to serve these fantastic Halloween Jello Shots!
