Gluten free non Alcoholic Beer

  • Author: Sima
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 10 cups (about 8-10 servings)
  • Diet: Gluten-free, Vegan, Non-alcoholic

Description

A quick and easy homemade gluten-free non-alcoholic beer made with gluten-free malt extract, hops, lemon juice, maple syrup, and sparkling water. It is family-friendly, caffeine-free, and takes just 15 minutes of hands-on work, making it a perfect refreshing drink for gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Gluten-free malt extract (or sorghum syrup) – 1/2 cup
  • Filtered water – 8 cups
  • Hops (pellet, gluten-free) – 1 tbsp
  • Fresh lemon juice – 2 tbsp
  • Maple syrup – 1 tbsp
  • Active dry yeast (for flavor only) – 1/4 tsp
  • Sparkling water – 2 cups
  • Pinch of sea salt – 1/8 tsp

Instructions

  • 1. 1. Steep the base: Bring 4 cups of water to a simmer. Stir in the malt extract and salt. Whisk until smooth.
  • 2. 2. Add the hops: Drop in the hops. Simmer for 10 minutes. Then turn off the heat.
  • 3. 3. Cool and strain: Pour in the remaining water. Strain the liquid into a pitcher. Discard the solids.
  • 4. 4. Flavor it: Stir in lemon juice, maple syrup, and yeast. Let the mix sit for 20 minutes.
  • 5. 5. Fizz and serve: Top with sparkling water. Pour over ice. Enjoy your fresh gluten free non alcoholic beer.

Notes

Keep your gluten free non alcoholic beer cold before serving. Use fresh hops for the best aroma. Do not boil the yeast; it dies and adds bitterness. Taste your gluten free non alcoholic beer before adding all the maple syrup. Chill your glasses. Store in a sealed pitcher in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Do not freeze; carbonation dies. Add new sparkling water before serving to refresh. Never microwave. Serve over fresh ice. Best on day one. For variations: swap sorghum syrup for brown rice syrup, add orange peel for citrus flavor, double hops for hoppier taste, skip yeast for a flat but tasty drink, or add a pinch of ginger for a warm kick.

Pair with grilled chicken, salty snacks, pretzels, popcorn, cheese board, burgers, eggs, or fresh salad.
