Description
Rediscover the magic of Fire Cider, a robust, spicy tonic hailed as a family’s secret weapon against winter woes. This invigorating brew supports wellness from the inside out, acting as a powerful immune booster perfect for chilly months.
Ingredients
- Organic Apple Cider Vinegar: 32 oz
- Fresh Ginger Root: ½ cup, grated
- Fresh Turmeric Root: ¼ cup, grated
- Yellow Onion: 1 medium, chopped
- Garlic Cloves: 10-12, minced
- Jalapeño Pepper: 1, sliced (seeds optional)
- Cayenne Pepper: 1 tsp
- Black Peppercorns: 1 tsp
- Fresh Rosemary Sprigs: 2
- Raw Honey (optional, to taste): ½ cup
Instructions
1. Prepare Ingredients: First, thoroughly wash and chop all your fresh produce. Grate the ginger and turmeric. Mince the garlic and slice the onion and jalapeño.
2. Combine in Jar: Next, place all the chopped ingredients (ginger, turmeric, onion, garlic, jalapeño, cayenne, black peppercorns, rosemary) into a clean, sterile half-gallon glass jar.
3. Add Vinegar: Then, pour the apple cider vinegar over the ingredients, ensuring everything is fully submerged. Top it off if needed to cover all solids.
4. Seal and Store: Immediately seal the jar tightly with a non-reactive lid (a plastic lid or parchment paper under a metal lid works best). Store your Fire Cider in a cool, dark place for 3-4 weeks.
5. Shake Daily: Gently shake the jar once daily to ensure optimal infusion of your homemade Fire Cider Recipe.
6. Strain: After 3-4 weeks, strain the liquid from the solids using a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth. Squeeze out every last drop of the potent Fire Cider!
7. Sweeten (Optional): Finally, stir in the raw honey to taste, if desired. This enhances the flavor of your finished Fire Cider Recipe.
8. Bottle: Pour your fresh Fire Cider Recipe into clean bottles and label clearly.
Notes
No fresh turmeric? Use an additional teaspoon of dried. Out of jalapeños? A pinch of red pepper flakes adds similar heat.
Feel free to add other immune-boosting herbs like echinacea, thyme, or star anise.
For a milder Fire Cider, reduce the amount of cayenne and jalapeño. For a vegan Fire Cider Recipe, simply omit the honey and sweeten with maple syrup after straining.
