Description
A creamy, comforting impossible pie that forms its own crust as it bakes, combining tender apples with a silky custard for a perfect fall dessert.
Ingredients
3 medium Apples (peeled and sliced)
¾ cup Granulated sugar
½ cup All-purpose flour
1½ cups Whole milk
¼ cup Unsalted butter (melted)
3 large Eggs
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
1 teaspoon Ground cinnamo
¼ teaspoon Salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish
- Place the sliced apples evenly in the bottom of the pie dish. Sprinkle with a little cinnamo
- In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, flour, milk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth
- Pour the batter over the apples. Do not stir
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until the center is set and golden brow
- Let cool for at least 15 minutes. The custard will firm up more as it cools. Serve warm or at room temperature
Notes
Use a mix of sweet and tart apples like Honeycrisp and Granny Smith for best flavor.
Do not overmix the batter; a few lumps are okay.
Let the pie cool completely before slicing for neat pieces.
For a dairy-free version, use almond milk and coconut oil.
To reduce sugar, use ½ cup instead of ¾ cup.
Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat in microwave or oven.
