Description

A creamy, comforting impossible pie that forms its own crust as it bakes, combining tender apples with a silky custard for a perfect fall dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

3 medium Apples (peeled and sliced)
¾ cup Granulated sugar
½ cup All-purpose flour
1½ cups Whole milk
¼ cup Unsalted butter (melted)
3 large Eggs
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
1 teaspoon Ground cinnamo
¼ teaspoon Salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish
  2. Place the sliced apples evenly in the bottom of the pie dish. Sprinkle with a little cinnamo
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, flour, milk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth
  4. Pour the batter over the apples. Do not stir
  5. Bake for 45-50 minutes until the center is set and golden brow
  6. Let cool for at least 15 minutes. The custard will firm up more as it cools. Serve warm or at room temperature

Notes

Use a mix of sweet and tart apples like Honeycrisp and Granny Smith for best flavor.

Do not overmix the batter; a few lumps are okay.

Let the pie cool completely before slicing for neat pieces.

For a dairy-free version, use almond milk and coconut oil.

To reduce sugar, use ½ cup instead of ¾ cup.

Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat in microwave or oven.
