This cabbage steak in air fryer is a quick, healthy, and budget-friendly dish. With just five ingredients and under 15 minutes of cooking time, it transforms humble cabbage into golden, tender, caramelized steaks that work as a side dish or light main course.
Ingredients
1 head Green cabbage (large head)
2 tablespoons Olive oil
1 teaspoon Garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C)
- Remove outer leaves from the cabbage. Rinse and pat dry
- Slice the cabbage into 1-inch thick rounds. Keep the core intact for stability
- Whisk together oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper
- Brush both sides of each cabbage steak with the mixture
- Place slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Work in batches if needed
- Cook for 10 minutes. Flip halfway through
- Check for tenderness. Cook 2 more minutes if desired
- Serve hot. Enjoy your cabbage steak in air fryer immediately
Notes
Use a sharp knife to cut even 1-inch slices. Thinner slices burn quickly; thicker ones take too long.
Do not overcrowd the basket—air needs to circulate for even cooking.
Pat cabbage dry before oiling to ensure crisping.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in air fryer at 350°F for 3 minutes to regain crispiness. Avoid microwave.
Freeze cooked slices wrapped tightly; thaw overnight then reheat.
Substitutions: avocado oil for olive oil, smoked paprika for smoky flavor, red pepper flakes for heat, lemon-herb blend for garlic powder, Napa cabbage for milder taste.
Toppings: grated Parmesan, balsamic glaze drizzle, or your favorite seasonings.
