Description
My kitchen often buzzes with activity, and recently, the star attraction has been these incredible Bat Oreo Cookie Balls. I remember one blustery afternoon, my youngest, Leo, was just buzzing with pre-Halloween excitement.
Ingredients
- Oreo cookies: 1 (14.3 oz) package
- Cream cheese, softened: 8 oz (1 block)
- Melting chocolate (dark or milk): 12 oz
- Miniature Oreos: 20-25 cookies
- Candy eyes: 40-50 (for 20-25 balls)
Instructions
1. First, crush the entire package of Oreo cookies (filling and all) in a food processor until fine crumbs form.
2. Next, add the softened cream cheese to the cookie crumbs. Process again until well combined and a dough-like consistency forms.
3. Then, roll the mixture into 1-inch balls. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
4. Freeze these Oreo cookie balls for at least 15-20 minutes. This helps them hold their shape.
5. Meanwhile, melt your chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
6. Dip each chilled cookie ball into the melted chocolate, covering completely. Use a fork to lift it out, letting excess chocolate drip off.
7. Immediately place the dipped Bat Oreo Cookie Balls back on the parchment paper. Quickly attach two mini Oreo halves to the sides for wings and two candy eyes before the chocolate sets.
8. Finally, refrigerate your finished Bat Oreo Cookie Balls until the chocolate is fully set, about 30 minutes.
