This Anabolic Protein French Toast gives us that same cozy, weekend feeling, but it fuels our bodies for a busy day. A high-protein breakfast that is easy to make and tastes like a treat.
Ingredients
8 slices Whole wheat bread
3 large Eggs
0.5 cup Liquid egg whites
1 scoop Vanilla protein powder
0.33 cup Unsweetened almond milk
1 teaspoon Ground cinnamo
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
1 pinch Salt
As needed Cooking spray
Instructions
- Whisk together the eggs, liquid egg whites, protein powder, almond milk, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt in a shallow dish until smooth
- Heat a large non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly coat with cooking spray
- Dip each bread slice into the egg mixture, soaking for 10-15 seconds per side (do not oversoak)
- Cook the soaked slices for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through
- Serve immediately with desired toppings
Notes
Use day-old or slightly stale bread for best absorption.
Do not use high heat; medium heat ensures the toast cooks through without burning.
For extra thickness, slice bread thicker.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheat in a toaster or air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes to restore crispness; avoid microwave.
This recipe is kid-friendly and easy to double.
