- 5 cups cubed day-old brioche or French bread
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup white chocolate chips or chopped white chocolate
- Butter for greasing the baking dish
- Optional: powdered sugar or warm cream for serving
Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch or similar baking dish with butter.
- 2. Place bread cubes in the baking dish.
- 3. In a large bowl, whisk together milk, cream, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and salt until well combined.
- 4. Stir in white chocolate chips.
- 5. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread, pressing lightly to soak all pieces.
- 6. Let sit for 10–15 minutes to absorb.
- 7. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is set but slightly soft.
- 8. Cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with cream if desired.

- Letting the bread soak before baking ensures a custardy interior.
- This dessert is best warm but can also be served chilled or reheated.
