Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
3/4 cup warm water
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt.
2. Add the oil and warm water, stirring until a rough dough forms.
3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
4. Cover the dough and let rest for 20–30 minutes.
5. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each into a ball.
6. On a lightly floured surface, roll each ball into a thin circle, about 6–8 inches in diameter.
7. Heat a dry skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
8. Cook each tortilla for about 30–60 seconds per side, until bubbles form and light brown spots appear.
9. Stack cooked tortillas in a clean kitchen towel to keep warm and soft.
Notes
These wraps can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days or frozen for longer storage.
For whole wheat tortillas, substitute half or all of the flour with whole wheat flour and add a bit more water as needed.
Try adding herbs or spices to the dough for extra flavor.
