Description

A rich and hearty Spaghetti Bolognese recipe made with ground beef, tomatoes, and Italian herbs โ€” the ultimate comfort food classic.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, finely chopped
  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
  • Fresh basil, for garnish

Instructions

  • 1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sautรฉ until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • 2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
  • 3. Stir in tomato paste and cook for 1 minute to deepen flavor.
  • 4. Add crushed tomatoes, beef broth, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  • 5. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 20โ€“30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • 6. Meanwhile, cook spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Drain.
  • 7. Serve Bolognese sauce over spaghetti, topped with Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.

Notes

  • For extra richness, add a splash of red wine when simmering the sauce.
  • This sauce freezes well โ€” make a double batch and store leftovers for busy nights.
  • You can substitute ground turkey, chicken, or a plant-based mince for a lighter variation.
