Description
Xango is a decadent dessert made of creamy cheesecake filling wrapped in a flour tortilla, deep-fried until golden, and dusted with cinnamon sugar. Often served with whipped cream, chocolate, or caramel sauce.
Ingredients
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
4 large flour tortillas (8- to 10-inch)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
Vegetable oil, for frying
Optional toppings: whipped cream, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, strawberries
Instructions
1. In a bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
2. Lay out tortillas and spread about 1/4 of the filling in a log shape on the bottom third of each tortilla.
3. Fold in the sides and roll up tightly like a burrito. Secure with toothpicks if needed.
4. Heat 1โ2 inches of vegetable oil in a skillet or deep pan to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
5. Fry each cheesecake roll for 2โ3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crisp. Drain on paper towels.
6. In a shallow dish, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon. Roll each fried Xango in the mixture to coat.
7. Serve warm with optional toppings like whipped cream, sauces, or fresh fruit.
Notes
You can freeze assembled (unfried) Xangos for laterโjust fry from frozen, adding a minute or two to the cook time.
Great for sharing or turning into a party platter with dipping sauces.
