Ingredients
10–12 Breakfast Sausage Links (cooked)
10–12 slices White Bread (sandwich style)
2 Large Eggs
1/4 cup Milk (any kind)
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1/4 teaspoon Ground Cinnamo
1 tablespoon Butter or Oil (for cooking)
Maple Syrup (for serving) (Optional)
Instructions
- Cook your breakfast sausage links according to package directions until browned and cooked through. Set them aside
- In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon to create the delicious batter
- Using a rolling pin, flatten each slice of bread until it is thin and pliable
- Place one cooked sausage link at one end of a flattened bread slice. Tightly roll up the bread around the sausage
- Carefully dip each bread roll-up into the egg mixture, ensuring all sides are coated. Do not over-soak the bread
- Heat butter or oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Place the dipped Sausage French Toast Roll-Ups seam-side down in the hot skillet
- Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, turning frequently, until golden brown and cooked through
- Serve your warm Sausage French Toast Roll-Ups immediately with a drizzle of maple syrup or your favorite toppings
Notes
For best results, use slightly stale bread as it absorbs the egg mixture better without becoming soggy.
Ensure your skillet is properly preheated for even browning and do not overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
Cook the sausage thoroughly before rolling for safe eating and crispy texture.
For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg to your egg batter, a sprinkle of shredded cheese inside before rolling, or using brioche/challah bread for added richness.
To store leftovers, place cooled roll-ups in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. For longer storage, freeze individual roll-ups on a baking sheet until solid, then transfer to a freezer-safe bag for up to 1 month.
Reheat from the fridge by microwaving for 30-60 seconds or warming in a toaster oven. From frozen, bake at 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) for 10-15 minutes or until heated through. Air fryers also work well for crisping them up.
Consider serving with fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, scrambled eggs, or crispy bacon to complete the meal.
