Instructions

1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5โ€“10 minutes until foamy.

2. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and stir until smooth. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.

3. Stir in baking soda. Let batter rest for 10 minutes.

4. Heat a greased nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Grease crumpet rings and place them in the skillet.

5. Spoon batter into rings to about 3/4 full. Cook for 5โ€“7 minutes until bubbles form and the tops begin to set.

6. Remove rings and flip crumpets. Cook for 1โ€“2 more minutes until golden on both sides.

7. Repeat with remaining batter.

8. Cool slightly and top each crumpet with a dollop of crรจme fraรฎche and a small spoonful of caviar.

9. Garnish with herbs if desired and serve immediately.
