Description
A traditional Salvadoran sweet cheese cake made with rice flour, queso duro blanco, and a hint of sesame soft, buttery, and perfect with coffee.

- 2 cups rice flour
- 1 cup queso duro blanco, grated (or Parmesan as a substitute)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup sour cream
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Sesame seeds for topping
Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 baking dish or round cake pan.
- 2. In a bowl, whisk together rice flour, grated queso duro blanco, sugar, and baking powder.
- 3. In another bowl, mix sour cream, melted butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- 4. Pour wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until fully combined.
- 5. Transfer batter to the prepared baking dish.
- 6. Sprinkle sesame seeds generously over the top.
- 7. Bake for 35–45 minutes, or until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- 8. Cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a more traditional texture, use queso duro blanco if available.
- This cake pairs beautifully with hot coffee and stays moist for several days.
