Pop Tarts S’mores: A Toasty Treat

Description

A fun, homemade version of the beloved pop tarts s’mores featuring a flaky pastry filled with chocolate and marshmallow, topped with rich chocolate glaze and graham cracker crumbs.


Ingredients

  • For the pastry:
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 68 tbsp ice water
  •  
  • For the filling:
  • 1/2 cup marshmallow creme (Fluff)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate, melted
  •  
  • For the topping:
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 12 tbsp milk
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • Graham cracker crumbs, for garnish

Instructions

  • 1. In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • 2. Add ice water a tablespoon at a time until dough comes together. Divide in half, shape into disks, and chill for 30 minutes.
  • 3. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out dough on floured surface and cut into equal 3×4-inch rectangles.
  • 4. Place half the rectangles on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Spoon a little melted chocolate and marshmallow creme into the center of each.
  • 5. Top with another rectangle and press edges with a fork to seal. Poke tops with a fork to vent.
  • 6. Bake for 18–22 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool completely.
  • 7. In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla to make glaze.
  • 8. Spread glaze on each cooled tart and sprinkle with graham cracker crumbs.
  • 9. Let glaze set before serving.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • For extra gooey centers, reheat in toaster oven or microwave.
  • You can freeze unglazed tarts and toast when ready to enjoy.
