Description
Italian drunken noodles with ground beef is a bold and satisfying pasta dish made with wide noodles, savory beef, tomatoes, and Italian herbs—an easy weeknight twist on the Thai classic.
Ingredients
8 oz wide egg noodles or pappardelle
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
1 red bell pepper, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes, undrained
1/4 cup red wine or beef broth
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Salt and black pepper to taste
Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Grated Parmesan, for serving
Instructions
1. Cook noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
3. Add onion and bell pepper. Cook 4–5 minutes until softened.
4. Stir in garlic and red pepper flakes and cook for 1 minute.
5. Add diced tomatoes, red wine (or broth), and Italian seasoning. Stir to combine.
6. Simmer for 8–10 minutes until sauce thickens slightly. Season with salt and pepper.
7. Add cooked noodles to the skillet and toss to coat evenly.
8. Garnish with fresh herbs and Parmesan before serving.
Notes
Use ground turkey or plant-based meat for a lighter version.
Skip the wine and use broth for an alcohol-free option.
Add spinach or mushrooms for extra vegetables.
