Description
A soft and tender heart-shaped cake perfect for Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, or any romantic occasion—frosted and decorated with love.
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup milk
Red or pink food coloring (optional)
1 1/2 cups frosting (buttercream or cream cheese)
Sprinkles, berries, or other decorations (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a heart-shaped cake pan.
2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
3. In a separate large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
5. Gradually add dry ingredients, alternating with milk, and mix until smooth.
6. Stir in food coloring if using, and mix until evenly tinted.
7. Pour batter into prepared heart-shaped pan and smooth the top.
8. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
9. Let cake cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
10. Once cooled, frost the cake and decorate as desired with sprinkles or fruit.
Notes
If you don’t have a heart-shaped pan, combine one square and one round cake to form a heart.
Flavor variations: Add lemon zest, cocoa powder, or almond extract for a unique twist.
Store frosted cake covered at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for longer freshness.
