A fast and flavorful ground beef skillet recipe perfect for busy weeknights. Made with pantry staples and customizable with your favorite veggies or toppings.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef (85/15 or leaner)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin
Salt and pepper to taste
1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
1 cup frozen corn (optional)
1 cup cooked rice or pasta
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Fresh cilantro or green onions, for garnish
Instructions
1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
2. Add chopped onion and sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened.
3. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute.
4. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
5. Drain excess fat if needed, then season with chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
6. Stir in diced tomatoes and corn (if using), and cook for 2–3 more minutes until heated through.
7. Mix in cooked rice or pasta and top with cheese if desired.
8. Garnish with fresh cilantro or green onions and serve warm.
Notes
This recipe is endlessly adaptable—use bell peppers, black beans, or cooked quinoa in place of rice.
Leftovers make a great filling for tacos, wraps, or stuffed peppers.
To make it spicy, add chopped jalapeño or hot sauce to taste.
