Description

Discover the pure joy of creating your own bubble gum from scratch with this Easy Homemade Bubble Gum Recipe. Perfect for a fun kitchen project with kids and adults alike, this recipe allows you to control all ingredients, customize flavors and colors, and create unique homemade treats. It's a simple, engaging, and memorable DIY experience for beginners.

Ingredients

Scale

1/4 cup Gum base
2 tablespoons Light corn syrup
1/2 cup Powdered sugar
1 teaspoon Flavoring extract (e.g., peppermint, strawberry)
23 drops Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt the gum base in a microwave-safe bowl in 15-second intervals, stirring after each, until soft and pliable (about 45-60 seconds). Do not overheat
  2. Stir in the corn syrup until well combined with the melted gum base
  3. Mix in your chosen flavoring extract and food coloring (if using). Stir until the color is uniform
  4. Dust a clean work surface with powdered sugar. Transfer the gum mixture to the sugared surface. Begin kneading, gradually incorporating the powdered sugar until the gum is no longer sticky and has a smooth, chewy consistency. Add more powdered sugar if needed
  5. Roll the gum into a log and cut it into small, chewable pieces. Optionally, press it into small molds for fun shapes
  6. Let the gum pieces rest for about an hour at room temperature before enjoying. This helps set the texture

Notes

Do not overheat the gum base, as this makes it brittle.

Work quickly once the gum base is melted, as it cools fast.

Use plenty of powdered sugar for kneading to prevent sticking and achieve classic gum texture.

Wearing food-safe gloves during kneading makes the process much less messy.

Let your completed bubble gum rest for an hour at room temperature for improved chewiness.

Store finished gum pieces in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.

Wrap individual pieces in wax paper or small parchment paper squares to prevent sticking.

This DIY bubble gum does not require refrigeration.
