Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and grease a loaf pan.
  • 2. In a bowl, cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • 3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well, then stir in vanilla.
  • 4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder.
  • 5. Add flour mixture to wet ingredients alternately with milk, mixing just until combined.
  • 6. In a small bowl, mix chopped apples with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  • 7. Pour half the batter into the loaf pan, add half the apple mixture, then repeat layers.
  • 8. Gently swirl with a knife.
  • 9. Bake for 50โ€“55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • 10. Cool slightly, then mix powdered sugar and milk and drizzle glaze over bread.

Notes

  • Use Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples for best flavor.
