- 2 medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp butter (for sautรฉing apples)
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 2 tbsp caramel sauce, plus more for serving
- Butter or oil for greasing the pan
- Powdered sugar (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and grease a 9-inch pie dish or cast-iron skillet.
- 2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sautรฉ apple slices with brown sugar and cinnamon until soft and caramelized, about 5โ7 minutes.
- 3. Arrange the apples evenly in the prepared dish.
- 4. In a blender or bowl, combine eggs, granulated sugar, milk, flour, vanilla, and salt. Blend or whisk until smooth.
- 5. Pour the batter over the apples.
- 6. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of caramel sauce over the top.
- 7. Bake for 35โ40 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown at the edges and the center is set.
- 8. Let cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with more caramel before serving.
Notes
- Clafoutis is best served warm but can also be enjoyed chilled.
- Use firm apples like Honeycrisp or Granny Smith for best texture.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days reheat gently before serving.
