Description
A bold and flavorful blackened dish featuring crisp-tender green peppers and a medley of spices, perfect for a smoky and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
2 green bell peppers, sliced into strips
2 boneless chicken breasts or firm tofu blocks
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Juice of 1/2 lemon
Instructions
1. Combine all dry spices (paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, oregano, cayenne, salt, and black pepper) in a small bowl.
2. Rub spice mix generously over chicken breasts or tofu blocks.
3. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat until very hot.
4. Add chicken or tofu and sear for 4โ5 minutes on each side, until blackened and cooked through.
5. Remove from pan and let rest.
6. In the same skillet, add remaining olive oil and sautรฉ green pepper strips until tender-crisp, about 3โ4 minutes.
7. Slice the blackened chicken or tofu and serve over the sautรฉed green peppers.
8. Drizzle with lemon juice before serving.
Notes
This recipe works well with chicken, tofu, or even fish like catfish or salmon.
Adjust cayenne pepper to control heat level.
Serve with rice, quinoa, or over a salad for a complete meal.
