Savory and comforting Easy Crock Pot French Onion Meatballs simmered in a rich onion gravy and topped with melted cheese a perfect hands-off dinner.

- 2 lbs frozen meatballs (beef, turkey, or chicken)
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 3 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 can (10.5 oz) French onion soup
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup shredded Gruyรจre or Swiss cheese
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- 1. In a large skillet, heat butter and olive oil over medium-low heat.
- 2. Add sliced onions, sugar, salt, and pepper. Cook slowly, stirring often, until onions are caramelized (about 20โ25 minutes).
- 3. Transfer caramelized onions to the crock pot.
- 4. Add frozen meatballs, Worcestershire sauce, French onion soup, and beef broth. Stir to combine.
- 5. Cover and cook on LOW for 4โ6 hours or HIGH for 2โ3 hours, until meatballs are heated through and flavors have melded.
- 6. Before serving, sprinkle shredded cheese over the top and cover for 5โ10 minutes until melted.
- 7. Garnish with parsley and serve hot with bread, rice, or noodles.
Notes
- For homemade meatballs, brown them before adding to the crock pot for extra flavor.
- Gruyรจre gives the most authentic French onion flavor, but mozzarella or provolone work too.
- Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
