  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (for sauce)
  • 2 cloves garlic, grated (for sauce)

Instructions

  • 1. In a large bowl, mix olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, paprika, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
  • 2. Add chicken and toss to coat evenly. Marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to 24 hours.
  • 3. Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  • 4. Cook chicken for 5โ€“7 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.
  • 5. Remove chicken from heat and rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly.
  • 6. In a small bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, lemon juice, and grated garlic.
  • 7. Serve chicken shawarma with garlic sauce, pita, or over rice or salad.

Notes

  • Chicken thighs stay juicier, but chicken breasts can be used if preferred.
