- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- 2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with onion and garlic until browned. Drain excess fat.
- 3. Season beef mixture with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- 4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the baking dish.
- 5. Spread half of the cooked beef mixture over the potatoes.
- 6. In a bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup and milk. Pour half over the beef and potatoes.
- 7. Sprinkle with 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
- 8. Repeat layers with remaining potatoes, beef mixture, soup mixture, and cheese.
- 9. Drizzle melted butter on top.
- 10. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes, until potatoes are tender and top is golden brown.
- 11. Garnish with parsley before serving.
Notes
- You can swap cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken or a homemade sauce.
- Try adding frozen mixed vegetables or corn for extra nutrition.
