Description
This Can You Juice Muscadines in a Crockpot recipe is an easy, hands-off way to extract rich, flavorful juice from fresh muscadine grapes perfect for sipping, jelly making, or freezing for later.
Ingredients
Scale
- 5 pounds muscadine grapes, washed
- 1/2 cup water (optional)
- Sugar to taste (optional)
Instructions
- 1. Lightly crush muscadines with a potato masher or your hands to help release juice.
- 2. Add crushed grapes and water (if using) to a slow cooker.
- 3. Cover and cook on LOW for 4โ6 hours or HIGH for 2โ3 hours, until skins have burst and pulp is soft.
- 4. Mash grapes again gently to release more juice.
- 5. Pour contents through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a large bowl, pressing to extract juice.
- 6. Discard skins and seeds. Strain juice again if a smoother consistency is desired.
- 7. Let juice cool, then store in jars or bottles in the fridge for up to 1 week, or freeze for long-term use.
- 8. Sweeten if desired before storing.
Notes
- Use red or purple muscadines for a deeper color and richer flavor.
- For jelly or syrup, you can reduce the juice by simmering it uncovered on the stove.
- Juice can also be canned using proper water bath canning procedures.
