- 1 lb breakfast sausage
- 1 small onion, diced
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 8 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups frozen hash browns (thawed) or cubed bread
- Butter or oil for greasing the dish
- Optional: chopped green onions or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- 2. In a skillet, cook sausage and diced onion over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- 3. Add cream cheese to the skillet and stir until melted and combined with sausage. Remove from heat.
- 4. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- 5. Stir in cheddar cheese and hash browns or bread.
- 6. Fold in the sausage and cream cheese mixture.
- 7. Pour everything into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- 8. Bake uncovered for 35โ45 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden.
- 9. Let rest for 5โ10 minutes before serving. Garnish with green onions or parsley if desired.
Notes
- This casserole can be assembled the night before and baked in the morning.
- Try adding chopped spinach, bell peppers, or mushrooms for extra veggies.
- Leftovers reheat well and can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days.
