Description
A smoky, spicy, and nutty homemade Bourbon Infused with Pecans and Cayenne featuring toasted pecans and a kick of cayenne—perfect for sipping neat or adding flair to cocktails.
Ingredients
750ml bottle of bourbon (your choice of brand)
1 cup raw pecans
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or to taste)
1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional, for a hint of sweetness)
1 large mason jar or airtight container
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and toast pecans on a baking sheet for 8–10 minutes, stirring once, until fragrant.
2. Allow toasted pecans to cool slightly, then place them into a clean mason jar or airtight container.
3. Add the cayenne pepper to the jar with the pecans.
4. Pour the bourbon over the pecans and cayenne, ensuring they are fully submerged.
5. Optional: Add maple syrup for a touch of sweetness and balance.
6. Seal the jar and store in a cool, dark place for 5–7 days, shaking gently once per day.
7. Taste after 5 days; if flavor is strong enough, strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean bottle.
8. Store the infused bourbon in a sealed bottle at room temperature or in the fridge for longer shelf life.
Notes
This infusion makes a fantastic base for Old Fashioneds or spicy bourbon sours.
Start with less cayenne if sensitive to spice—you can always add more later.
Use high-quality bourbon and fresh pecans for best results.
