A fun, indulgent twist on a fast food favorite this Big Mac tater tot casserole layers seasoned ground beef, cheese, pickles, and tots with a creamy “special sauce” for the ultimate comfort food dinner.

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup Thousand Island dressing
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 2 tsp yellow mustard
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup diced dill pickles
- 1 (28 oz) bag frozen tater tots
- Shredded lettuce and extra pickles for topping (optional)
Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- 2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until browned. Drain excess fat.
- 3. Stir in salt, pepper, Thousand Island dressing, mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard. Mix well and remove from heat.
- 4. Spread beef mixture evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- 5. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the beef layer.
- 6. Add diced pickles on top of the cheese.
- 7. Arrange tater tots in a single layer over the entire surface.
- 8. Bake for 35–40 minutes, until tots are golden and crispy.
- 9. Let rest 5 minutes before serving. Top with shredded lettuce and extra pickles if desired.
Notes
- Use a homemade “special sauce” or substitute with burger sauce for variety.
- Great for leftovers reheat in the oven or air fryer to keep the tots crispy.
