Description

Classic Iowa party bites made with sweet Hawaiian rolls, savory ham, melty cheese, and a buttery poppy seed glaze perfect for potlucks and game days.


Ingredients

  • 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 12 slices deli ham
  • 12 slices Swiss or cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp poppy seeds
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and grease a baking dish.
  • 2. Slice rolls in half horizontally without separating them.
  • 3. Layer ham and cheese evenly over the bottom half of the rolls.
  • 4. Place the top half of rolls back on.
  • 5. In a bowl, whisk melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, poppy seeds, and onion powder.
  • 6. Pour butter mixture evenly over the rolls.
  • 7. Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  • 8. Uncover and bake an additional 5โ€“10 minutes until tops are golden and cheese is melted.
  • 9. Slice into individual bites and serve warm.

  • These can be assembled ahead of time and baked just before serving.
