Classic Iowa party bites made with sweet Hawaiian rolls, savory ham, melty cheese, and a buttery poppy seed glaze perfect for potlucks and game days.

- 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 12 slices deli ham
- 12 slices Swiss or cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp poppy seeds
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and grease a baking dish.
- 2. Slice rolls in half horizontally without separating them.
- 3. Layer ham and cheese evenly over the bottom half of the rolls.
- 4. Place the top half of rolls back on.
- 5. In a bowl, whisk melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, poppy seeds, and onion powder.
- 6. Pour butter mixture evenly over the rolls.
- 7. Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes.
- 8. Uncover and bake an additional 5โ10 minutes until tops are golden and cheese is melted.
- 9. Slice into individual bites and serve warm.
Notes
- These can be assembled ahead of time and baked just before serving.
- Swap ham for turkey or roast beef if desired.
