Description

Ingredients

  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • 1. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat.
  • 2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
  • 3. In another bowl, whisk milk and egg until combined.
  • 4. Stir wet ingredients into dry ingredients until a thick batter forms.
  • 5. Fold sliced onions into the batter until well coated.
  • 6. Drop spoonfuls of batter into hot oil, gently flattening slightly.
  • 7. Fry for 2โ€“3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  • 8. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • 9. Serve warm.
